How to find inspiration!

1. Relax- although it may not be the most obvious way, it may be one of the most effective. Sometimes, to stop thinking about something helps your mind to refresh and get some fresh new ideas.

2. Draw- that's right draw! Just sketch out some random shapes, really anything that is on your mind.

3. Listen to your favourite tunes- listening to music actually helps you concentrate! You may find that the answer just comes to you when you least expect it.

4. Get on with something else- take your mind off whatever you are worrying about and try working on something else!

5. Look at pictures and information on the internet, there is a BIG chance you will just stumble across what you are looking for!

Amigurumi Crochet

What is it?

The extremely cute art of Amigurumi, is a Japanese art that involves creating incredibly adorable little creatures and objects by kitting or crocheting them!

Typically the objects are animals, but they can also be everyday objects (like in the picture below) that have specially cute human-like features e.g eyes or rosy cheeks!

The crochet points are usually closed up and there are no gaps, they are very neatly made and are becoming more and more popular! But come on, who can resist them?

An Amigurimi crocheted mug with a little whip cream on top!

You can also find Amigurumi crochet rings and accessories!

Aww such cute little cupcakes!

Victoria Sponge Cake Recipe!

Here is one of the simplest victoria sponge cake recipes I know. In my experience, the simpler the better. This recipe is very basic, so feel free to add some forest fruits like berries or some whip cream/jam! Anything goes fine with this wonderful recipe!
What you will need:
1.   225g/8oz caster sugar
2.   4 medium eggs
3.   2 tsp vanilla extract
4.   225g/8oz self raising flour
5.   milk, to loosen
6.   225g/8oz butter or margarine, softened at room temperature

The cakes taste even better with a sprinkling of sugar on the top!

Step-By-Step Baking
1.   Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
2.   Grease and line 2 x 18cm/7in cake tins with baking paper.
3.   Cream the butter and the sugar together in a bowl until pale and fluffy.
4.   Beat in the eggs, a little at a time, and stir in the vanilla extract.
5.   Fold in the flour using a large metal spoon, adding a little extra milk if necessary, to create a batter with a soft dropping consistency.
6.   Divide the mixture between the cake tins and gently spread out evenly with a spatula.
7.   Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden-brown and a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.
8.   Remove from the oven and leave it for 5 minutes, then remove from the tin and gently take off the paper. Place onto a wire rack.
9.   'Glue' the 2 cakes together with jam, lemon curd or whipped cream and berries or just enjoy on its own.

Making The Jungle Bracelet!

Here is a pretty little companion for your beaded friendship bracelets! This bracelet is made from crochet and looks super cool when it is compete (and is a lot of fun to make).

What you need:

1. 3 different colours of wool.
2. Scissors.
3. A crochet needle.

How to make it:

1. Make a row of 30 crochet stitches.
2. Join them up to make a ring!
3. Keep re-stitching over the previous layers and change colour every two layers.

This is a picture of both the friendship bracelet and the jungle bracelet!

They are both absolutely gorgeous and go very well together!

The crochet stitches give the bracelet a very interesting texture!

Good luck! Have fun!

Making a really cute homemade friendship bracelet

You will need:

1.  Coloured string
2. Scissors
3. Coloured beads

Step-by-step instructions

1. Cut 3 long pieces different coloured yarn
2. Plait the 3 strings together.
3. Thread the strings through some of your beads.
4. Tie up the ends of the string, so that you have a cute little bracelet, try and make it so that it can loop around your wrist more than once!

Make sure you choose some colours that go well together

Try to keep your pieces of string roughly the same size

Make sure your plait is as even as possible

Choose beads that match your colour scheme

-There you go, hope your bracelets turn out to be really cute! This makes a really good present for your friends, and they will just love them!

Making a 'Name Block'!

Hey everyone. Today I was just playing around and stumbled across this random block of wood in one of my shelves. I decided to personalise it. To make your own name block you need to:

Get some
1.PVA glue/tape
2.Plain paper and coloured card
3.Buttons
4.Decorations
5.Felt-tip pens
6.Clouring pencils
7.A nice block of wood (if you don't have one you could use a match bow or anything square)
8.Something Shiny!

Just keep adding objects to your block until you think it is really you! Write your name or whatever message you want in big bold lettering in a really cool colour of your choice and glue it right in the centre of your block!

...and there you go! Your very own name block, put it in your bedroom, use it as a paperweight e.t.c!

A Very 'Sweet' Christmas card indeed!

This is a very christmassy card that I made from all the scraps I found around my art room. The secret is to fill as much of the card as possible with as colourful things as you can! The result is a very 'sweet' little card, that is perfect for all your Christmas needs!

Tips
1. Round off the corners of the card.
2. Punch holes in it and thread some string through it and tie a bow.
3.Have a theme. In this case the theme is hearts.
4.Use as varied colour as possible.
5.Have interesting shapes and textures
6.Add patterns to your card.
7.Write a sweet personal message inside!
